10 Apps Worth Paying For

If you are anything like me, you live on your phone.  I don’t know how I got through life before smartphones.  OK, I might be a bit overboard with that statement, but I do love having a smart phone.  There are countless things that you can do with your smart phone.  On a daily basis, I use it for:

  • Social Media (Facebook, twitter, linked in)
  • Checking the stock market
  • Reading the paper, blogs, and magazines
  • Searching for places (restaurants, businesses…)
  • Mapping a route (I’m not the most directionally inclined person)
  • The basics (phone calls, texting, emails)
  • Playing games

If I forget my phone at home (it has been over 2 years since I did this last), I am lost.  It is a scary feeling not having your cell phone.  What if you have an emergency?…

What Goes Up, Must Come Down

There’s nothing better than a stock market that goes up, up, up.  Right?  How about there’s nothing better than being part of a stock market that goes up, up, up.  That’s better.  If you took part in the stock market in 2012, more specifically the S&P, you would be up almost 10%.  That’s not a bad return for 3 months.  Unfortunately, even the stock market seems to follow the laws of gravity.  Whenever the stock market enjoys a period of growth, there tends to be a period of decline shortly after.

If you are a long-term investor, then you most likely stay put and ride the tides.  You will surely enjoy the gains like those we are experiencing now.  You will also have to endure the losses such as those from 2008, and any others to come.  I like to try to play around.  I (try to) buy low and sell high.  Using this strategy I try to avoid the big losses and ride the big gains.  Unfortunately, I often jump ship too soon and miss some of the bigger gains.…

Happy Saturday! Shhh, Stop Shouting!  I went to a wedding last night so I’m a little tired.  This week was spring break for me, so I enjoyed my extra time relaxing and enjoying the weather we were having.  80 degrees in March is unheard of where I live.

I have been training for a half marathon that takes place in May for the past 4 weeks.  This week my shins started hurting, so I had to rest a few days.  I am hoping I can get back into the groove tomorrow.  This week I ran about 14 miles, and I’m hoping I can make it up to 18 next week.  We will see!…
