Rising Above Inflation

April 30, 2013

Investing can be a sore subject for many people.  After the economic meltdown a few years ago, people scrambled to empty their brokerage accounts, and even worse their 401k’s.  The golden rule of investing is to buy low and sell high, and while that seems easy enough to do you would be surprised just how many people buy high and sell low.  Fear and panic are the top contributors to poor investment decisions.  If you take the long position in a solid investment you should at least see some kind of gains over time.

March 3, 2013

A number of people have good cause to rue the day Nicholas “Beano” Levene accepted a spread betting offer to open an account.

Levene’s parents emigrated from Israel to the United Kingdom in 1981. In Israel, he had served in the military and as a hotel bell boy and he began trading when he was 21 years old. He secured clients through his well-known gift of the gab and thus earned kudos from his employers. He socialised with such luminaries as retail tycoon, Sir Philip Green (who also featured in the bankruptcy of Paul Kemsley) and Simon Cowell. He donated £10,000 to the Conservative Party in 2004 and claimed that its treasurer, Howard Leigh, was a “close friend.”…
