Which IRA is Best for Me?

Tax time is just around the corner, and you may find yourself looking for those last minute breaks before year end.  Personally, I just got married this year so I get a rather large standard deduction to take.  However, I also make some side income now so I need to be wise about how much taxable income I allow before year end.  What’s unfortunate is that I also don’t have much time left, or many options to affect my bottom line, except make less money and that just isn’t happening.  What I eventually concluded was that increasing my 401K contributions to the maximum allowed would greatly reduce my tax bill at year end. …

Everyone knows that the housing market has taken a bath over the past 4 years.  While not everyone is willing to grasp the fact that their home is most likely worth 40% less than it was just a few years ago, it still is a fact.  If you don’t believe me, check out Zillow.  Zillow is an online appraisal site.  The price that it spits out gives you an idea what the value of your house is.  Zillow can be inaccurate, but for the most part it’s in the ballpark.

What The Tax Cut Extension Means To You

The title of this post should actually be called, “what an election year does for Americans.”  Congress voted to extend a Social Security tax cut for 160 million workers as well as to renew unemployment benefits for many who haven’t seen a paycheck in six months.  Congress passed these cuts in record time, in hopes to gain voters.  The last time Congress voted on these tax cuts was this past December.  If you remember, Congress took their sweet time extending these cuts.  They were only able to extend them for two months.  This time around, they passed them quickly and for the rest of this year.…
